The holiday of Passover is right around the corner. We have made it our mission to make sure every local Jewish home has crispy handmade Shmurah Matzah to enjoy on the nights of the Passover Seder.
When our ancestors left Egypt, they were in such a hurry that there was no time to wait for the dough to rise. So...they ate Matzah, unleavened bread. With only this food (but with great faith), our ancestors relied on the Almighty to provide sustenance for the entire Jewish nation—men, women and children. Each year we remember and relive this by eating matzah on the first two nights of Pesach.
The flat matzah is the antithesis of the inflated leavened bread —the symbol of ego. In the Kabbalah, leaven is compared to idolatry—the idol of "self." The Zohar calls Matzah the "bread of faith" and the "bread of healing,” since hand-baked Shmurah Matzah, eaten at the Seder, is said to bring health, healing and faith.
